The Shepherd's Academy for Teaching Excellence is a vocational training program that serves early childhood educators

and program administrators in partnership with Penn Consulting.  PC is an education consulting firm specializing

in professional development for early childhood education organizations. We provide inspirational staff development and

business consulting for administrators and teachers of programs for young children. Our objectives are to ensure

optimal development of children by developing programs that engage every learner and to improve processes and

performance in order to provide the best service possible to young children.

The Shepherd’s Academy for Teaching Excellence provides many Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning:  Bright

from the Start and Georgia Department of Education Office of Professional Learning courses. All policies and procedures

are in compliance with the National Health and Safety Standards established by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the

National Board of Health, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Association of

Christian Schools International, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges

accreditation (Advanced ED Georgia) standards for quality schools; and federal, state, and local regulations.  We are a 501(c)3 corporation that is organized for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes.

Penn Consulting is an education consulting firm specializing in professional development for early childhood education organizations. We provide inspirational staff development and business consulting for administrators and teachers of programs for young children. Our objectives are to ensure optimal development of children by developing programs that engage every learner and to improve processes and performance in order to provide the best service possible to Georgia’s young children.

 

Dr. Althea Penn has a passion for children and those who serve them.  She has decades of experience in education serving as a teacher, Children’s Ministry Director, and principal.  Dr. Penn has degrees in education administration and organization leadership, certification as an early childhood educator, and earned the National Administrator Credential.  She serves as a Child Development Associate Professional Development Specialist for the national CDA teacher's credential and regularly conducts high quality early childhood professional development seminars and leadership workshops throughout the Southeast.  Althea is an inspirational communicator and has been a featured conference speaker for The Georgia Preschool Association, the National Black Child Development Institute, Kid’s Advocacy Coalition, Quality Care for Children, The Association of Christian Schools International and other organizations that share her passion for children and her colleagues.  As an educational consultant she has trained hundreds of Directors of preschools and provided guidance in the accreditation and licensing process.

 

As an Organization Development (OD) Practitioner she designs and delivers strategic interventions to organizations interested in creating high performing, inclusive, and culturally effective workplaces. Her insight helps achieve long-term, sustainable change by working at all levels of an organization.  As a coach, she supports leaders and individuals in discovering and aligning  people, performance and payoffs for results in their personal and professional lives.  She is married to her best friend and high school sweetheart.  They are the parents of two beautiful daughters who have also become certified educators.  You can usually find her curled up with a book or hiking a nearby nature trail.
